The Team

Brian Strombeck
Brian graduated in April 2009 with a B.S. in aeronautical engineering from WMU. But God had other plans for his life, and he felt called to work as the Media and Communications Director at The River back in October 2009. He went to Uganda on the first trip with The River back in February and since then has never been the same. He enjoys playing hockey, mountain biking, and other extreme sports like skydiving and bungee jumping.
Jaynie Fawley
Jaynie was born with an aching, altruistic heart. Even as a child, she hated injustice, recklessly loved all children, and was often struck with a compassion so overwhelming that it required immediate action. As an adult, Jaynie works full-time as a nanny and also is on The River staff as the Riverbank Coordinator (nursery/preschool). After her first trip to Kapelebyong, Uganda in January 2010, her already aching heart was devastated beyond anything she could have ever expected. Her overwhelming compassion called her to action once again, and she is now part of Mission Six. She hopes to hug as many children as she can, befriend as many teenagers as she can, and gain the respect and confidence of as many women as she can. Through this, she hopes to make an eternal difference.

Caitlin Miller
Caitlin recently graduated from WMU's nursing program and is very excited to put her nursing skills to use, caring for the village she fell in love with 5 months ago. She's also looking forward to building community among the children by working with Brian to start a soccer league, drawing on her 17-year love of playing soccer. The Lord has broken her heart for many of the things that break His and she is humbled to her knees that He has allowed her to be a part of loosing the chains of injustice and setting the oppressed free. Although she's looking forward to a month away from summer road construction (among many other things, of course), she'll be missing everyone she's leaving back home - her friends, family, and especially her precious little nephew, Zeke :)

Deb Libby
Ever since Deb was little she always knew she would end up in Africa but the opportunity never showed itself until this past year. She was one of the original 19 people that went on the first trip to Kapelebyong with The River and it changed her life. Now she is looking forward to going back and working with the women in the village.

Dustin Doroh
Dustin has a heart for youth and actively works with the high school and middle school age students at The River. He hopes that this trip to Africa will open his eyes to what God may have in store for his future.

Heather Reinbold
Heather is a 21 year old paramedic who has a huge heart for service to others.    Heather is excited to get to Uganda, meet more people, and learn how to use her gifts to help the people of Oditel.  She is so honored and excited for the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  Her prayer is that, through this trip, on top of being an amazing experience, she will be a light to those around her, and that through her service, one person is effected in an eternal way!
